PB and Apples Go Greek

Last night’s dessert-deprivation led me to end my day with the same goodie that kicked it off. No, I didn’t recreate my magical Monday morning mix, but I definitely hit up those whole wheat graham crackers.

Unfortunately, I’ve got zero pics to share because who actually wants to document their late-night snackage? Plus, I thought I’d only be munching on one graham cracker. That number obviously multiplied once I had the brilliant idea of smearing some cream cheese on those suckers. It was almost like eating cheesecake. Almost. Looking back, I should’ve busted out a little jelly, too. I guess there’s always tonight…

I woke up this morning craving one thing: apples and peanut butter! Best feeling in the world: Waking up and knowing exactly what you want to eat. Actually… best feeling in the world: Waking up and knowing what you want to eat, and then proceeding to take that craving to a new level of deliciousness.

A.K.A., instead of just going for this:

…I went for this:

Oooh yes, I did. PB and apples in Fage greek yogurt, with a little cinnamon and honey.

I love turning tried-and-true snacks into new, exponentially-more-exciting eats! I know the above pic is prettier, but this breakfast was much more enjoyable once I made a peanut butter-swirly mess of it.

Ay dios! As you can see from yesterday and today’s morning munchies, I’ve got some serious love for my Fage. It’s just perfectly creamy and the ideal base for all of my crazy A.M. concoctions. I haven’t ventured into Chobani or Oikos—but, por favor, tell me, greek yogie goddesses: What’s your greek yogurt of choice? And why? I’m always willing to branch out, especially because Fage is pretty pricey.

Ok, I’m off to find some way to enjoy this beautiful end-of-the-summer NYC weather!

See you later!

  • I go with Chobani because it’s usually the cheapest and I can’t really taste a huge difference between the brand. I like how the fruit is separate in Fage’s fruit flavors and they use a 2% base but it isn’t really worth the extra money in my opinion

  • Chobani is really yummy, but I love Stonyfield Oikos :) You should give both a try though. Fage is like the Chanel of Greek yogurt, in my opinion though haha. Yummy all around and very expensive!!!
Anyway, just found your blog and I can’t wait to read more!!!

  • The wraps I used were Mission Deli wraps from the supermarket. A little more expensive but delicious and worth it.

  • I like Chobani and Oikos but I give the edge to Chobani because of their flavor selection. Between the two I usually go with what’s on sale. This week it was Oikos.

  • for me it’s a toss up between chobani and oikos — I don’t discrimate.. whatever’s cheaper :)

  • Hey! Your blog looks really great!! And that yogurt looks like something I would loooooove!! I don’t buy greek yogurt enough to really know which I prefer. I guess chobani and oikos would be tied… just wish they were as cheap as the regular kinds I get!!

  • I have yet to try the pb + greek yog combo but I need to get on it!

  • YOOO girl!! Thanks for that wonderful comment about college..it’s wonderful so far! And I AM DYING as I look at your food. Seriously. DYING! I AM JUST CRAVING yogurt or cottage cheese and PB and apples and bananas and just REAL FOOD! Not powdered soup :(

  • i like chobani and oikos! now that its september, i cant wait to start adding pumpkin to my yogurt :)

  • i loveeeeee apples and greek yogurt! now i just gotta add the pb :)

  • Brown Cow makes a variety that is about 50 cents cheaper than any of the other varieties….I prefer Fage, but BC’s is pretty good…I like it better than Oikos. Which I always call Okios because sometimes I have dyslexic moments in my old age.
I also LOVE 3 Greek Gods because a.) I like regular old plain yogurt and this has the same consistency but with a better taste and none of that crazy 16g of sugar crap!, because b.) it is lowest in calories and I can therefore justify adding more, um, embellishments to it, and because c.) the little greek god cartoons on the cartons are bomb.
